While no two trips with the same rating are identical, here is a quick reference guide for how our trips are rated:
RELAXED:
Distance: 3-4 miles.
Terrain: Rocky, mostly flat with gradual elevation gain/loss. No use of hands required.
Horseback Riding Trips: 1-1.5 hours on horseback. The horses will be traveling at a walking pace. No previous experience required.
ACTIVE:
Distance: 3-5 miles.
Terrain: Rocky, mostly gradual elevation gain/loss, with limited steep sections. Use of hands not required or infrequent.
Water Trips: You will be paddling throughout the day, but going with the current. Class III or lower rapids and flatwater. No previous experience required.
Rock Climbing: There will be multiple routes set up throughout the day, and you will be free to try as many routes as you want as many times as you want. You can climb continuously or take breaks. No previous experience required.
INTERMEDIATE:
Distance: 5-10 miles.
Terrain: Rocky, ascents and descents throughout the day, including steep sections. Use of hands may be required.
Bike Trips: ~30 miles with rolling hills, a couple of tougher climbs, and a support vehicle as a bailout options. You will be traveling on quiet roads shared with cars. This trip is recommended for people with prior biking experience.
CHALLENGING:
Distance: 6-14 miles.
Terrain: Rocky, exposed with very steep ascents and descents. Use of hands often required.
INTENSE:
Distance: 10-24 miles.
Terrain: Rocky, exposed with very steep ascents and descents throughout the day. Use of hands required.
Be prepared to maintain a strong pace over the course of 10-15 hours.
