Gary loves getting out of the city for day or multi-day trips. He always feels grounded after spending time out of doors. What he enjoys most is when participants have a really good day. In addition to guiding trips in the Northeast, Gary has led backpacking trips in Arctic Alaska for 20 years. As a volunteer, he is chair of the committee that oversees all Alaska and Arctic Canadian trips for Sierra Club Outings. A native of Pittsburgh, he now lives on the Upper West Side. Gary is also an Eagle Scout.
